27^th ICR 2011  OR mini RSNA

The four days, May 17th through May 20th, 2011, of 27th Iranian Congress of Radiology was indeed absolutely a super success.  The meeting was held at Olympic Hotel in Tehran.  It was truly an International Meeting attended by scientists from Austria, Canada. Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Nepal, Netherlands, Switzerland, Syria, Turkey, United Kingdom, and USA.  Multiple lecture halls were simultaneously in action covering all aspects of radiology and allied professions.  From students to graduate technologists, from residents to practicing radiologists all were busy to go through the titles in program book for picking their subjects of interest. The International Hall was truly international with Iranian and international academicians lecturing in their fields of specialty in English. The Educational Workshop sessions were well organized and attended. This was especially interesting when professor Bonakdarpor took the stage and encouraged every attendee to be part of the discussion.  It was amazing to see how Ostad would take the audience through the review of rare and difficult

cases in a way that at the conclusion of each case, one would get the impression that he/she knew it all !!!!

The big difference between ICR 2011 (mini RSNA) and RSNA was the usual Iranian hospitality!! Not only you did not have to wait in line to get your food and ....you were cordially invited to the halls with sitting services for lunch and dinner.  This was further complemented with entertainments by music and dances by Khuzestani artists and Azari artists.

The industrial Exhibit Hall was well organized and represented by majority of medical venders.

Dr. Ali Shirkhoda, Dr. Abbas Arjamand Shabestani and Dr. Firooz Tabarrok were inaugurated of being the Gold medalists of 27^th Iranian Congress of Radiology.  Professors HK Huang (California, USA), Professor Francis Scholz (Boston, Mass., USA) and Professor Okan Akhan (Ankara, Turkey) were elected as honorary Members of Iranian Society of Radiology.

I had the honor to have the podium for few minutes as the representative of NAIRS.  I briefly  re-introduced the NAIRS, named its Founders and explained its Mission as the sister society of Iranian Society of Radiology and encouraged the attendees for closer relationship and collaborations.

Such a tremendous  success of the 27^th  Iranian Congress of Radiology 2011 was not easy to come through.  It was the result of extraordinary hard work,  planning and execution by the members of Iranian Society of Radiology led by Dr. Jalal Jalal Shokkouhi, President of ICR 2011, Dr. Abdolrasoul Sedaghat, President of Iranian Society of Radiology and Dr. Mansour Fatehi, Executive Director of ICR 2011.  My sincere admiration and congratulations to all of these leaders and all others who took part in different Committees in this process and pulled through such a huge success.

 As it goes "Job well done:.  خسته نباشید.
