MINUTES of NAIRS meeting 11/29/2011

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 pm by the president of
NAIRS, Dr. Jamshidi. He welcomed new and old members. Those
present introduced themselves.
Dr. Jamshidi presented a eulogy for Dr. Hojat, a loyal member of
NAIRS, who passed away this year. A minute of silence was
observed.
The 2010 minutes were approved unanimously. Dr. Jamshidi gave
the financial report on behalf of Dr. Raofi, who could not
attend. He also noted that Dr. Raofi, the Secretary/Treasurer of
NAIRS has tendered his resignation effective 2012. Dr. Jamshidi
requested for a volunteer to be the new Secretary/Treasurer.
He thanked Dr. Afshang for making the dinner arrangements and
other business.
Dr. Jamshidi stressed that time has come for passing the torch
to the younger generation and asked the attendees to get
involved in managing and expanding NAIRS by their active
participation and collegial relationship. He noted that the
first step has been taken by Dr. Yaghmai's acceptance as
president- elect.
Dr. Jamshidi talked about the Iranian Radiological Society (IRS)
meeting which he attended in Tehran. He was very impressed by
the achievements of our Iranian colleagues, for building a
successful radiological society in Iran and managing an
impressive annual scientific and professional assembly.
Dr. Shirkhoda talked about NAIRS, where we stand, and what we
hope to accomplish for the future of NAIRS.
Dr. Yaghmai, as President-elect, talked about the society. He
said we are sound financially. He encouraged the radiologists in
training and younger radiologists to join the society, to build
a stronger society. There was discussion of the difficulties
faced by some of the members in training seeking help from
senior Iranian radiologists in getting positions and building
their careers in the U.S. Dr. Yaghmai addressed their concerns.
It was decided to keep the dues at $75.00 for the full member
that include the cost of annual meeting and dinner. The dues
for member -in-training (interns and residents) was set at
$25.00 that would also include the cost of annual meeting and
dinner.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm.
